Ever since the MINI Cooper brand crossed the Atlantic to arrive on American soil, the automaker has undergone consistent evolution. From the creation of more spacious MINI models like the MINI Cooper Countryman to the addition of cutting-edge tech features, MINI is not an automaker to rest on its laurels. The automaker’s newest innovation is set to be one of the most groundbreaking yet. Here at MINI of Bedford, we are pleased to announce that MINI is hard at work on creating an electric MINI car for the 2019 model year.

The new MINI model will be known as the MINI E series, and it’s currently being tested in sub-zero conditions in the Arctic Circle.  From spy shots that have been released, we know that the new electric model will resemble a traditional three-door MINI Cooper Hardtop, with the classic quirky MINI Cooper design. However, there will be some key differences, including veins that channel air around the body, a grille-less nose, and an air-extractor slot behind the front wheel. Overall, the designers of the MINI E Series are aiming to make the vehicle as aerodynamic — and thus, as fuel-efficient — as possible.

One additional thing that we know about the upcoming MINI E Series are that the engineers are attempting to maximize the driving range on a single battery charge. The total range is not yet confirmed, but if the related BMW i3 electric car can provide a sufficient benchmark, then drivers near Nashua, NH can expect to get up to 186 miles of range on a single charge. Estimated output is 181 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque.

If you’re asking, “where can I find a MINI Cooper dealership near me that can tell me more about upcoming MINI models”, the answer is right here at MINI of Bedford. Stop by and chat with us today!
