Driving is not always going to be fun and games. Though there’s nothing that quite matches the feeling of driving down an open Exeter, NH area road in a brand new 2020 MINI Cooper, you have to remember that there are always hazards to watch out for when you’re behind the wheel. From weather hazards to potholes to reckless drivers, the dealers here at our MINI dealership in NH have plenty of experience dealing with these issues and would like to share our advice.
Inclement Weather and Road Conditions
When dealing with rain, snow, icy roads, and poor visibility, you’ll want to drive slower than normal and match the flow of traffic. Keep more distance between your vehicle and the car in front of you, and keep your windshield wipers and windows clear. Make sure to use your headlights when appropriate.
Reckless Drivers
A reckless driver is one who is distracted, under the influence, driving irresponsibly and breaking traffic laws, or driving much slower than the flow of traffic. If you encounter a reckless driver, slow down, let them pass, and keep a safe distance.
Bad Traffic
If you’re dealing with rush hour traffic or heavy construction in the Exeter area, keep a large distance between you and the car in front of you, be prepared to stop, and keep your head on a swivel for vehicles that could pull out in front of you.
Potholes
Potholes are a reality in the cold New Hampshire winter. They cause distractions, and some drivers may swerve around a pothole and cause accidents. When you see a pothole, keep a firm grip on the steering wheel, and try to drive around the pothole, if safe.
