Here at MINI of Bedford, in the past few years, we’ve noticed a large increase in driver interest in green technology. Climate change isn’t slowing down anytime soon, and automakers like MINI Cooper are getting on board with hybrid and electric cars. At our dealership, we already carry one hybrid MINI car, the 2018 MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4, and the automaker has plans to release an all-electric vehicle for the 2019 model.

The 2018 MINI Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 is a variation of the popular MINI Cooper Countryman vehicle. This is the most spacious MINI car to date, and it features some of the automaker’s most advanced technology. Under the hood, the world-class TwinPower Turbo engine is paired with an electric motor to achieve 221 horsepower and 284 lb-ft of torque. The plug-in hybrid car runs on gasoline, electric power, or both, which gives you a flexible range of power options. You can use any standard outlet to charge the lithium-ion battery at your convenience. Like the standard MINI Cooper Countryman, the plug-in hybrid version includes all-wheel-drive, features impressive cargo space, and has comfortable seating for five.

MINI is also hard at work on a new all-electric MINI E that’s set to hit dealerships for the 2019 model year. This car debuted at the Frankfurt auto show last September and made its U.S. debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show two months later. Not much is yet known about the upcoming MINI E, but it’s expected to have a range of 200 miles or more and still feature the nimble handling and sleek style for which MINI cars are known.
